Collection: Combination skin

Combination skin is two states on one face: an oily T-zone with active oil glands and drier areas like the lips, cheeks and eye contour. In some cases it's genetic; in others it's simply a state the skin experiences because of external factors (a hotter climate, an inappropriate routine, hormonal changes, stress) but the right routine changes everything. The trap is treating the whole face like the oily part.

Skip the aggressive cleansers that leave a "squeaky" feeling, harsh scrubs with coffee, salt or large grains, and anything with silicones or mineral oil, which only block pores further. Instead: gentle enzyme or acid exfoliation (fruit enzymes, AHA, BHA) no more than twice a week; light, cooling hydrating fluids with aloe; and balancing toners built on niacinamide or lavender. Save the rich creams for the cold months.

And when it comes to make-up, choose powder formats, like powder foundation, blush, mattifying powder, they sit on combination skin a lot better. UOGA UOGA's line is a great example, it uses amber ground to a powder (a natural resin) with soothing, sebum-regulating properties.

Build your routine by picking one make-up remover, cleanser, one toner and/or mist (lavender water is worth a pick), one hydrating and one sebum-regulating serum, and a moisturiser.
