Description

Give the gift that grows! Our seeded cards are an environmentally-friendly way to celebrate life. At first sight, the card may look like a regular card, but it's not! Printed in a single colour, on one side only, this card can be put in the soil, and grow into beautiful summer flowers. This way, your friends and family will have a lively memento of your gift.

Seed paper is made from recycled materials, so no trees were harmed, and it's the perfect eco-solution to conventional cards!

By buying one of these cards you contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal 15: life on land (SDG 15). SDG 15 set by the UN aims to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

How it works:

You can plant this card outdoor between April and June, with flowering happening around July and October. To get the best results, follow this simple step-by-step guide:

Step 1. Prepare

To begin, fill a pot 2/3 full with good potting soil. Tamp down the soil and add more if necessary.

Step 2. Plant

Cover the soil in your pot with the plantable paper (you can either break it or use it as it is). Make sure to wet the paper. Then spread a 1/8-inch (3mm) layer of soil over the paper, and tamp down gently.

Step 3. Water

After planting the paper in your pot, give it a good soak. You want the paper and the soil to be nicely damp but not swimming in water. During the first 10 days, keep the paper moist at all times. The water is necessary for germination, because the seeds first have to detach themselves properly from the paper and then sprout. A sunny corner in your house (or outside) certainly helps.

Step 4. Let It Grow

Once the sprouts appear, keep the paper moist but not wet. Once sturdy plants appear, water as needed.

Step 5. Enjoy!

When the flowers start to blossom, either keep them in the pot or cut and arrange them in a vase. Either way, it is a pleasure to enjoy such gorgeous and eco-friendly blossoms!

What if the seeds do not germinate?

Seeds in our seed paper are not guaranteed to germinate as expected. There are many reasons for this. For example, you may have kept the earth too dry or used old soil that is not rich in nutrients. Also, planting in winter or very early spring is never recommended. If you have received a seed paper Christmas card, it is best to wait until spring with planting the paper.
