Hydrating or nourishing, which moisturiser does your skin actually need?

These two words get used interchangeably, but moisturisers do different jobs depending on how they're built.

Hydrating creams deliver water into the skin — think lightweight emulsions, fluids, and gel-creams.

Nourishing creams feed and repair the skin barrier — usually richer, thicker creams, night balms, and cream-masks. Most skin needs both, at different moments.

The difference isn't always obvious from the label, and marketing often blurs the two. But there are a few simple ways to tell them apart, including a 30-second test you can do at home, while browsing in a shop, or at our boutique in Lausanne.
